Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4’s campaign is winning over players

The new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 has already made its campaign available to pre-order customers, and players are responding very positively. It has a 90% positive rating on Steam from nearly 2,000 reviews. Players agree that it is one of the best campaigns in the series in recent years, with some already calling it the best one ever.

This time, the campaign features 16 missions and takes us into a large-scale conflict on the Korean Peninsula, where North Korea invades its southern neighbour. The story follows young South Korean soldier Park and his unit, while Captain Price launches his own operation to uncover the conflict’s origins. The fighting takes place not only in Korea, but also in Paris, New York, and Mumbai.

Players particularly praise the cinematic presentation, atmosphere, intense firefights, and variety of missions. The more open-ended Stranded mission has also caught their attention, offering greater freedom in completing objectives. The story’s darker tone, its characters, and its climax are also receiving positive reactions. The visuals are just as impressive as the gameplay.

Early reviews from media outlets are also positive. IGN calls the campaign the best Modern Warfare since the series was rebooted in 2019, while PC Gamer and GamesRadar likewise praise its return to higher-quality story missions. Criticism is mainly aimed at some overly linear sections and weaker moments in Price’s storyline. Overall, however, the impression so far is very positive.

Of course, this is still a classic Call of Duty campaign, so players can expect around six hours of gameplay, or a little longer if they explore more thoroughly. Players also earn rewards for progressing through the campaign, which they can then use in multiplayer and DMZ.

Modern Warfare 4 is gradually gearing up for its full release. Before that, on Tuesday, October 20, a new extraction mode, DMZ, will become available to pre-order customers. It will feature the large Hajin map, gear collection, objectives, and battles against enemies and other players. The game will then fully launch on October 23, with the complete multiplayer mode also becoming available.
