The Gears of War series is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the first game’s release on Xbox 360, which arrived on November 7, 2006. To mark the occasion, The Coalition has prepared a special two-week event in Gears of War: E-Day, featuring limited-time modes, new rewards, and a free multiplayer character.
Players can take on Guardian in Versus, where protecting their leader is key. Horde Siege is also getting a For the Queen variant, with the supply drop disabled and teams having to rely on their own gear.
On the anniversary itself, November 7, all Gears of War: E-Day players can unlock the iconic antagonist RAAM as a multiplayer character for free. They just need to log into the game and claim the reward.
The celebrations will continue on December 1, when the second season, titled Legacy, arrives. It will focus on the return of fan-favorite maps, modes, and character skins from the series’ 20-year history. New additions will include the Solemn Memories Dom skin, which depicts Dominic Santiago in the suit from the well-known photograph with Maria in Gears of War 2.
The Coalition also thanked the community for being part of the series for two decades. It noted that Gears of War is about more than battles against the Locust: it is also about friendships and shared player experiences that, in many cases, have lasted for years.
