PS5 Gets Free Ad-Supported TV Service in the US

Sony is expanding the PlayStation 5’s multimedia capabilities with a new service, Live TV on PS5, launching for users in the US today. It is a free, ad-supported television service operated by Sony Pictures Television.

The service will offer more than 100 live channels, along with on-demand content. Users can access it directly from the Media section on the PS5 home screen by signing in with their PlayStation account.

The lineup includes movies, TV shows, anime, sports, news, and specialized channels. Partners include Amazon MGM Studios, Crunchyroll, FOX, NBCUniversal, NFL Channel, UFC, Lionsgate, and Sony Pictures.

The movie lineup will include channels such as MovieSphere, Sony One Horror Hits, and FilmRise Free Movies. TV channels will feature titles including Community, The Shield, The Walking Dead, Hell's Kitchen, Forensic Files, and Unsolved Mysteries. The anime section will include Naruto, Sailor Moon, Hunter x Hunter, Death Note, and Black Clover.

The sports section will offer content from FOX Sports, NASCAR, NBC Sports Now, and UFC, covering MMA, American football, hockey, motorsports, golf, boxing, and soccer. News coverage will be provided by outlets such as NBC News Now, Fox Weather, and LiveNOW from FOX.

Sony plans to rotate the lineup regularly and add more channels and content. The company also mentions Canada as the next region, while it is still only exploring the possibility of expanding the service to other countries. Availability in Europe has therefore not been confirmed at this time.
