Mayhem À La Carte Will Be a Fun Co-op Kitchen Action Game Mixing Gunfights and Cooking

Under publisher 505 Games, INGAME STUDIOS is developing the unconventional co-op action game Mayhem À La Carte, in which cooking becomes a fight for survival. The game combines a first-person perspective, meal preparation and gunfights with enemies attacking the restaurant directly. It will be playable solo or in online co-op, with the developers recommending groups of two to four players. The game is scheduled for release in 2027, initially in Early Access.

Players will have to chop, fry, bake and serve orders while enemies pour through the windows. Kitchen equipment will also serve as weaponry. Players will be able to use a frying pan, a cleaver and even a shotgun.

Food itself will play an important role. Dishes and ingredients can stun, freeze, shrink or blow enemies into the air. Even burnt food can be turned into an improvised explosive.

The game will be built around chaos and improvisation. The kitchen can gradually fall apart during attacks, ingredients can fly across the floor, and the developers are also promising bizarre situations, such as giant lobsters escaping. The four players will therefore have to divide up their roles and communicate, with the game also offering proximity voice chat.

Early Access will launch with a smaller amount of content

At launch in Early Access, Mayhem À La Carte will offer approximately 4 to 5 hours of content across two different kitchens. Each will feature its own recipes, hazards and unexpected events. There will initially be fewer recipes, but the core combination of cooking and first-person shooter action is already expected to be complete. Interestingly, spoiled ingredients or food can be used as weapons alongside the traditional arsenal.

Early Access is expected to last at least six months, during which the developers want to at least double the amount of content. The full version will add more kitchens, challenges, weapons, recipes, chefs and new gameplay elements. The developers see plenty of opportunities for further expansion, but they first have to finish the game. The game may also come to additional platforms later on.
