Player choices are expected to gradually shape the story, but Rockstar has yet to confirm whether GTA VI will have multiple endings.

IGN published an interview with Rob Nelson of Rockstar North, revealing more details about GTA VI. We covered most of the information in our August roundup of 150 new details, but the full interview also included several new insights into the story, police, interactions, and how the open world works.
Story and Main Characters
Multiple story endings? Rockstar suggests that player choices will matter more. According to Nelson, smaller choices accumulate over time and influence what happens next, while some major decisions have an immediate impact. This could also point to multiple story endings, although none have been directly confirmed.
Lucia’s ankle monitor will be an important part of the story and will also play a role in bringing Jason and Lucia’s paths together.
Jason and Lucia don’t actually own their hideout. This explains the photos of strangers on the fridge that appeared in previous footage.
The characters have their own routines. For example, if you switch from Lucia to Jason, you might find him naked in the shower.
Police and a More Lively Open World
Police will remember the scene of a crime. If the player commits a crime and escapes, officers will remain in the area for a while. The map will show high-risk areas and the wanted level in each one.
More varied NPCs. Rockstar has developed new technology that allows animations to be adapted to characters’ different heights and body types. This will make the world’s residents more varied without requiring developers to create every interaction individually.
Buildings will gradually be completed. As in Red Dead Redemption 2, some locations may change over time, but this feature won’t play a significant role in the main story.
Interactions and Bizarre Situations
More interactive hideouts. For example, Jason can pick up and browse a romance novel left on a table. Rockstar wants hideouts to offer more small interactions.
A lawyer in a dumpster. One random event may introduce you to a shady lawyer hiding in a dumpster and asking for pills. You can give him some or even climb in with him. When you meet him later, he may offer you legal advice.
Headphones in stores. Players will be able to buy headphones, but it’s not yet clear whether they’ll be able to listen to music while moving around the city.
Hot Coffee returning? When minigames that players might prefer not to see came up in the interview, Nelson laughed and said that was about right. However, this does not confirm the return of the controversial sex minigame from GTA: San Andreas.
While the new information doesn’t reveal anything major, it once again hints at how much attention Rockstar is paying to detail. From police reactions and characters’ daily activities to small random encounters, the developers are aiming to create a world that’s more than just a backdrop for the main story—it will respond to the player’s choices and behavior.
