Legacy Games Is Shutting Down, and Purchased Games Can’t Be Redownloaded After February 2027
The digital store, which offers more than a thousand games, is closing, taking the option to redownload purchased titles with it.
Legacy Games has announced that it is closing its digital store, which has specialized in casual PC games and game bundles since 2020. Its catalog includes more than a thousand games, including hidden-object, puzzle, match-3, and management simulation titles. The store will close permanently on December 31, 2026.
The closure itself will not mean an immediate loss of access to all purchased games. Users will still be able to launch them through the Legacy Games Launcher and redownload them until February 28, 2027. After that date, redownloading will no longer be possible.
Games that players download and install before then will remain playable on that device after February 2027, as long as they are not removed. However, if players uninstall them or want to transfer them to a new computer, they will no longer be able to retrieve them from the store. The same deadline applies to games users previously claimed for free through Amazon Prime Gaming’s monthly offers.
Owners of physical Legacy Games editions that include download codes should also take note. They must redeem the codes by December 31, 2026, at the latest, as they may no longer work after the store closes. Customers will also be unable to buy any new games after that date.
The situation is all the more troubling because the store still uses the slogan “amazing games, great value, yours forever” on its website. In practice, however, whether customers can keep their purchased games will depend on whether they remain installed on a particular device. If they replace their computer, players may lose access to their digital library even though they paid for the games. And that is probably the case with several digital stores.
