Kojima’s spy game Physint moves to Xbox after Sony loses interest9/10/2026
Both of Kojima’s projects are now under Microsoft.

Kojima has just revealed that Sony canceled their joint spy game Physint in June. However, he did not want to abandon the project and spent the past three months actively looking for a new partner that would allow development to continue.
He ultimately found one in Xbox, which, according to Kojima, shares a similar vision of the future. Microsoft is therefore taking over the project from Sony, making it the second collaboration between Kojima Productions and Xbox alongside the upcoming OD. Xbox also confirmed that it will publish Physint directly.
Kojima also assured fans that Physint remains in development. He still describes it as an action spy game aiming to redefine its genre. The partnership between Kojima Productions and Xbox will not be limited to games, either. The two companies also plan to collaborate on film and television projects.
The announcement comes shortly before Tokyo Game Show, where Xbox will have its own stream and FanFest, as well as showcase its games. We do not yet know whether it will show anything from Physint there, however. Even OD, which has been in development in collaboration with Microsoft for some time, has yet to receive a major presentation.
It will also be interesting to see what strategy Microsoft chooses for Physint and whether it will be a full Xbox exclusive or perhaps a timed exclusive. The head of Xbox has increasingly been pushing exclusives to support console sales.
