PlayStation Unveils New Pulse and Pulse Edge Headsets

PlayStation has unveiled two new wireless headsets, Pulse and Pulse Edge, which will replace the previous generation of audio accessories. Both models use planar magnetic drivers and support PlayStation Link, which offers low-latency lossless audio.

The new headsets feature larger planar drivers, which Sony says will deliver deeper bass while retaining accurate detail reproduction. PlayStation Link allows the headsets to be used with PS5, PlayStation Portal, PC, and Mac, with devices supporting the technology able to be switched between. They can also connect to supported Bluetooth devices at the same time.

Both models have built-in microphones with AI-powered noise cancellation. Sony has also revised the headsets’ design, adding rotating earcups that allow them to be laid flat. They will be available in white and Midnight Black.

Pulse Edge will offer more features than the base model. Its planar drivers have twice the volume of magnets, which is intended to provide more pronounced bass. The headset adds active noise cancellation, a detachable boom microphone, game audio and chat balance controls directly on PS5, a 3.5 mm audio jack, and a carrying case.

Sony also notes a difference in the drivers themselves. Pulse has four magnets per planar driver, while Pulse Edge has eight. Both headsets will include a USB-C adapter for PlayStation Link.

PlayStation Pulse will go on sale in select markets later this year, while Pulse Edge will arrive in early 2027. Sony has not yet announced pricing.
