Rockstar Reportedly Working on L.A. Noire 2, Featuring a Zodiac Killer Investigation

According to a new rumor, Rockstar Games’ next major game after GTA 6 could be L.A. Noire 2. The game is reportedly set in San Francisco, with a story focused on investigating the Zodiac Killer. Its internal target is reportedly to release around 2030, and Rockstar is said to be significantly advancing the facial scanning and animation technology that was one of the original L.A. Noire’s key features.

The information comes from a GTA Forums user whose earlier claims about GTA 6 were, according to the community, partly consistent with details revealed later, including the relationship system and earlier plans for a larger number of protagonists. That alone, however, does not confirm the information about L.A. Noire 2, and we’re not relying on it for now.

There is some basis for the series’ return, however. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said in April 2026 that the company was thinking about the future of its older franchises, including L.A. Noire. He also stressed that they had nothing to announce about L.A. Noire at the moment, and that any announcement of a game would come directly from Rockstar.
