South Park Shows Exclusive GTA VI Footage as Rockstar Reunites with the Show’s Creators

Rockstar Games teamed up with the creators of South Park, resulting in an unexpected look at Grand Theft Auto VI. Instead of a traditional trailer, viewers got a short clip directly from the game, with humor that fits the animated series perfectly.

The new footage appeared in the episode Guinea Pig on a Stick, which premiered on October 28 as part of South Park’s 29th season. The approximately 17-second clip shows Jason on a crowded beach in Vice City, where he spots a dog relieving itself. Its owner cleans up after it, but Jason then provokes him into a fight and eventually uses a bag of dog poop against him.

Although the scene is fairly absurd, the clip also showcases details of the game world, numerous NPCs, and ways to interact with the surroundings. The South Park characters comment on the impressive graphics and richly detailed environment. This is not a fan-made creation or altered footage, but actual material from GTA VI. The show’s creators even explicitly credit Rockstar Games for the footage in the end credits.

This is not South Park’s first connection to Rockstar games. Red Dead Redemption 2 featured prominently in the 2018 episodes Time to Get Cereal and Nobody Got Cereal?, with several characters playing it, including Al Gore and police officer Harrison Yates. At the time, however, it was primarily a reference to a popular game, and a direct collaboration with Rockstar was not confirmed. This time, the situation is different, as the developers provided the show’s creators with actual in-game footage.

GTA VI has also appeared repeatedly in the current season of South Park. The creators joke that everything will finally get better in November, referring to the game’s anticipated release. Grand Theft Auto VI launches on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
