More information about GTA VI has revealed new details about the state of Leonida and how the game's map will work. This time, Rockstar is focusing not only on its size, but mainly on the density of the environment, movement options, interiors and systems connected to the map.
The new details include:
- once free movement is unlocked, players will be able to travel practically anywhere without artificial barriers,
- Leonida is expected to be designed as an island and will not include the Florida Panhandle,
- the world is expected to contain around ten cities and towns,
- Mount Kalaga in the north is expected to be the highest point on the map,
- the world will include several islands and larger underwater areas,
- while diving, players will be able to use equipment, search for shipwrecks and find hidden treasures,
- the map in the menu is expected to use a detailed 3D satellite view,
- when zoomed out, it will mainly show major roads and highways, while zooming in will reveal smaller roads and streets,
- unexplored parts of the map will remain covered and players will have to discover them gradually,
- the map will also help with planning heists and display buildings, gang bases, shops, entrances, exits and the value of the loot,
- the game is expected to feature hundreds of accessible interiors,
- buildings with helipads are also expected to be accessible, with players able to reach the roof by stairs or elevator without a loading screen,
- players will be able to travel around Leonida by bus, train, taxi, Metromover or through the RydeMe app,
- public transport journeys can be skipped, but players can also experience the entire trip, listen to the radio and talk to passengers,
- players will be able to buy garages in various locations across the map,
- separate safehouses will not be available for purchase, as Jason and Lucia's place of residence will change according to the story,
- locations of previous crimes may become so-called heat areas,
- the police will search these areas more actively for a certain period of time and may establish a perimeter around the crime scene,
- the heat area will be marked in red on the map, with the wider high-risk area shown in a lighter shade,
- with a six-star wanted level, the heat area is expected to expand to practically the entire map.
Based on the information available so far, GTA VI is therefore not aiming only for a larger world, but primarily for a significantly more interactive Leonida, where the map, transportation, police, interiors and individual locations will be much more closely interconnected.
