At the end of BlizzCon’s opening ceremony, Blizzard finally unveiled the long-awaited World of Warcraft: Forever, essentially answering fans’ years-long calls for Classic+. The new release will remain within World of Warcraft’s first year and, instead of progressing through further expansions, will continue expanding this world.
Forever will retain the level 60 cap and follow the principles of the original World of Warcraft. At the same time, it will open up areas that were inaccessible in Vanilla and add a large amount of entirely new content. Blizzard wants to create an alternative vision of where the original World of Warcraft could have gone next.
At launch, the game will add three new zones, several reworked original areas that will fill in empty spaces on the map, and more than 1000 new quests. Players will also get a new battleground, nine new dungeons, and two new raids.
Another major addition will be the new playable race, the Skyborne Elves. Blizzard will also add new reputations, pets, improved world graphics, and many other features. The content will not be intended only for high-level characters—new adventures will cover the entire range from level 1 through 60.
The trailer showed, for example, the original dwarf hunter from the famous World of Warcraft trailer, who will take a different path this time and make it all the way to Dalaran. The city is open this time and hides dark secrets beneath its surface. The World Tree Nordrassil and an entirely new kingdom in the sky also made an appearance.
World of Warcraft: Forever will launch on November 4, 2026. The beta will begin this Thursday, and players will also be able to try the game directly at BlizzCon.
