New Action-Focused StarCraft Coming in 2030

Blizzard officially unveiled a new StarCraft at BlizzCon 2026. It will not be a return to the classic real-time strategy genre, but an open-world action shooter that is currently simply called StarCraft.

The reveal did not show any gameplay or provide further details. Blizzard released a cinematic trailer following recruits preparing for war against the Swarm. After a motivational military speech, the soldiers put on their gear and head into a combat zone overrun by enemies.

The trailer follows a soldier named Holt. During the battle, his weapon jams, and the ending suggests that he did not survive the encounter. Blizzard has therefore shown more of the game's tone and atmosphere than its actual gameplay so far.

The video ends with the slogan Join the Dominion and a link to StarCraft.com.

Blizzard is still keeping further details under wraps. The platforms, a more specific release date, and the form of the open world have not been confirmed. The project is reportedly connected to a game led by former Ubisoft developer and Far Cry 5 director Dan Hay. Fans will still have to wait quite a while for the result. StarCraft is scheduled for 2030.

The game will be released on PC and Xbox.
