Take-Two again signals that PC is becoming increasingly important to the company, while confirming GTA VI will launch as a single-player game9/19/2026

Take-Two still has not officially confirmed a PC version of GTA VI, but the latest comments from CEO Strauss Zelnick once again suggest that it is more a question of when than if. At the annual shareholders’ meeting, he was asked about the company’s strategy for releasing games on PC. Zelnick replied that the company is gradually trying to release its titles on every platform with a sufficiently large audience. He also added that PC is becoming an increasingly important platform for Take-Two.
GTA VI has so far been confirmed only for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, where it will launch on November 19, 2026. Rockstar traditionally releases PC versions of its major games later. GTA V, for example, originally launched on consoles in 2013, while the PC version followed in April 2015. Zelnick did not provide a release window for the PC version of GTA VI this time, but his comments make it clear that the company is well aware of the size of the PC market.
The comments about GTA Online were more interesting. Zelnick directly confirmed that the November release of GTA VI will be a single-player title. As a result, Take-Two does not expect recurrent consumer spending at launch, meaning revenue from microtransactions, virtual currency and other ongoing paid content. The company also confirmed that the current version of GTA Online based on GTA V will continue to be supported after the release of GTA VI.
This also aligns with recent information about the new multiplayer component. Twitch CEO Dan Clancy told Bloomberg in an interview that after the release of GTA VI, he expects another major surge in interest “next year, when they launch multiplayer.” With GTA V, they managed to release it a month after the game’s launch, but it did not go ideally, and that marked the beginning of the end for the game’s single-player content, as well as all the delays to the PC version. This time, they will presumably allow more time for the Online component. Clancy also claims that Twitch is in intensive communication with Rockstar about plans surrounding GTA VI and the involvement of streamers.
It is therefore possible that Rockstar will repeat the model used for the original GTA V, where multiplayer also did not arrive alongside the game. At the time, however, GTA Online followed roughly two weeks after the single-player launch, whereas the gap could be significantly longer this time. Take-Two’s current comments also explain why the company wants to continue supporting the existing GTA Online after the November release of GTA VI.
Zelnick also said that the marketing campaign for GTA VI will be very extensive and that the company considers the game a global event. At launch, the title will be localized into 13 languages, with more potentially being added later. Take-Two is leaving more specific marketing announcements to Rockstar Games, however. In the meantime, Miami is already turning into Vice City. Several flashy advertisements at the airport were banned, but advertisements are already being erected elsewhere in the city.

Financially, Take-Two expects GTA VI to be one of the main drivers of its current fiscal year. The company continues to expect full-year net bookings of $8 to $8.2 billion. GTA remains one of its biggest brands, with GTA V having surpassed 230 million copies sold.
